Week 6

The kittens are over a month old now.
Seamus was having tummy troubles so the SPCA gave us some medicine to give him. It was one metronidazole tablet split into 8 pieces. For any of you that have had to give your cat pills, you will know, it's not fun! Steve would hold him and I would shove the pill as far into his mouth as I could get it. Most times it took two tries. After he swallowed it he would spend a few minutes foaming at the mouth, squinting, and smacking his lips making a face that I call the "grumple" face.

The kittens started to become interested in wet food this week. The ones who liked it made a big mess. Ruthie especially loved it, she put her whole face in it. We couldn't stop laughing when we first saw her meowing up at us with her fur all slicked back from the food.

Oh Ruthie!

PitaPata Cat tickers
Steve and I have volunteered at the SPCA since June 2010. We try to go every weekend to walk dogs. I am allergic to cats, but Steve really wanted one. We agreed that we would foster kittens for the SPCA to help the kittens, and to test how my allergies would be. We agreed that we wouldn't keep any kittens from the first litter because wanted to do it more than once. Along came Calliope and her kittens. They captured our hearts and there was no way we could give them all back.
